Rupee posted marginal gain against the US dollar

KARACHI: The Pakistani rupee recorded a slight gain against the US dollar last week, appreciating by Rs0.05 or 0.02% in the inter-bank market.

According to the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), the local currency closed at 281.66, compared to 281.71 at the end of the previous week.

During the same period, the central bank confirmed receiving the second tranche of Special Drawing Rights (SDR) amounting to 760 million—equivalent to $1.02 billion—from the International Monetary Fund (IMF). This inflow will be reflected in the SBP’s foreign exchange reserves for the week ending May 16, 2025.
