KARACHI: The Pakistani rupee continued its downward trend against the US dollar, slipping by 0.03% in the inter-bank market on Thursday to reach a 17-month low.
By the end of the trading session, the local currency had depreciated by Re0.09, closing at 282.06 against the greenback. A day earlier, it had settled at 281.97.
The last time the rupee was at this level was on December 27, 2023.
“The increased demand for imports has exerted pressure on the currency,” said Sana Tawfik, Head of Research at Arif Habib Limited.
