Pakistan’s C/A Deficit Shrinks 27% in July 2025

KARACHI: Pakistan’s current account deficit narrowed by 27 percent in July 2025, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) said on Tuesday.

The current account posted a deficit of $254 million in the first month of FY26, compared to $348 million in the same month of FY25, showing an improvement of $94 million. In contrast, the account had registered a surplus of $328 million in June, which helped FY25 close with a cumulative surplus of $2.1 billion (0.5 percent of GDP) — the first annual surplus in 14 years, mainly supported by a significant jump in workers’ remittances.
