ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has approved the gradual elimination of meter readers in power Distribution Companies (Discos) across the country—excluding the KE service area—under a new system titled “Apna Meter Apni Reading” App, which is set to launch soon, sources informed Business Recorder.
At present, meter readers capture images of electricity meters, which are forwarded to the Power Information Technology Company (PITC) through the respective Discos for bill generation. However, this process has faced widespread criticism due to frequent complaints from consumers about receiving inflated electricity bills.
