KARACHI: The Pakistani rupee recorded a slight appreciation against the US dollar on Monday, gaining 0.02%.At the close of trading, the local currency settled at 281.97, marking an increase of Re0.05 against the greenback.
In contrast, the rupee had weakened slightly during the previous week, slipping by Re0.04 or 0.01% in the inter-bank market. It had ended the week at 282.02, compared to 282.06 in the preceding week, according to the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).
On the international front, the US dollar slipped on Monday, retracing some of last week’s gains as global markets assessed the potential economic impact of President Donald Trump’s tariff policies, which could dampen growth and fuel inflation.
