Currency Exchange
Currency exchange is the process of converting one currency into another at the current exchange rate through authorized dealers or exchange organizations.
The demand and supply mechanisms are the fundamental factors for determining the exchange rate between currencies all over the world. The exchange rate is also influenced by other factors such as inflation, interest rates, political and economic stability, etc. Hence, the exchange rates fluctuate throughout the day.
Biometric verification is required when a customer buys currency equivalent to USD 500 or more. However, if a customer sells currency to Dollar East, bio-metric verification is not required.
Customers can easily sell foreign currency to Dollar East. They only need to confirm their identity through any of the following documents.
For Pakistan Nationals: Original Valid CNIC/NICOP/POC
For Foreign Nationals: Original valid Passport with a valid visa or proof of legal visit
Home/Inward Remittance
When an expatriate sends money to its home country; it is called home remittance.
Overseas Pakistanis can easily send money to their loved ones in Pakistan. The process is very simple and the beneficiary can receive payment within 15-20 minutes.
Sender > Originating Agent > Foreign Correspondent > Dollar East > Receiver
To Receive Western Union, MoneyGram or RIA Payment from Dollar East, a receiver should have:
- Proof of Identification
- Pakistani Nationals: Original Valid CNIC, NICOP, POC
- Foreign Nationals: Original Passport with Valid Visa or any other proof of legal stay in Pakistan
- Afghan Refugees: Original POR
- MTCN/ Reference Number / Pin Code Payment Code provided by the Sender
Beneficiaries can usually receive payments (sent through Western Union, MoneyGram, and Ria Money Transfer) within 15-20 minutes from Dollar East.
The beneficiary receives full payment and no charges are deducted by Dollar East.
No, only the beneficiaries can receive the payments.
Outward Remittance
Outward remittance refers to a process of sending money to a foreign country.
Customers can easily send money to a foreign country through Dollar East Exchange. The documents required depend on the purpose and method of remittance used. The details are as follows:
Cash to Cash
Dollar East offers this service in collaboration with Western Union and MoneyGram. In this method, the sender pays the money in cash and the beneficiary receives the money in cash from more than 500,000 locations in over 200 countries worldwide. The information and documents required for using this service given below:
Sender: Copy of CNIC, Occupation, Purpose of Remittance
Beneficiary:
- Name
- For Travelers: Copy of Passport with Valid Visa
- For Residents: Resident ID issued by the government
Telegraphic Transfer
It is a safe and quick method of money transfer, and the amount sent is directly credited to the beneficiary’s bank account.

The money sent through telegraphic transfer usually arrives in the beneficiary bank account within 3-4 working days.

Currency Purchase
A customer can purchase up to USD 10,000 or any other currency equivalent to this amount in a single day.
Following are the limits for purchase of currency for travelling purpose.
- For a single visit abroad
- Customers aged 18 years and above can purchase currency equivalent to USD 5,000
- Customer aged below 18 years can purchase currency equivalent to USD 2,500
- Annual limit
- Customers aged 18 years and above can purchase currency equivalent to USD 30,000
- Customer aged below 18 years can purchase currency equivalent to USD 15,000
An adult customer can purchase currency up to USD 100,000 in a year.
Following documents are required for the purchase of currency:
- For Travel:
- Copy of CNIC
- Copy of Confirm Ticket
- Copy of Passport with Valid Visa
- For purchase of currency equivalent to US$ 2,000 or above, transfer of money from personal bank account to Dollar East bank account.
- For Bank Deposit:
- Copy of CNIC
- Proof of Foreign Currency account in Pakistan e.g., cheque book, or account statement
- Proof of Funds for purchase of equivalent to US$ 1,000 or above.
- Copy of deposit slip after depositing currency in bank account
- For purchase of currency equivalent to US$ 2,000or above, transfer of money from personal bank account to Dollar East bank account.
